About
Founded to unite the voice and influence of the private sector across the region, the Greater Washington Partnership develops actionable strategies, builds cross-sector partnerships, and informs policy to drive long-term regional growth. We lead signature initiatives in workforce development, infrastructure, small business acceleration, and economic competitiveness—anchored by data, informed by research, and executed in collaboration with employers, governments, and education institutions across the corridor.

Mission
We identify shared opportunities and core challenges and offer solutions to the region’s most critical issues including skills and talent, regional mobility, infrastructure and inclusive economic growth and competitiveness.
Vision
To make the region, from Baltimore to Richmond, vibrant, economically competitive and prosperous – uplifting it as the best place to live, work and build a business.
Why It Matters
We have the skilled talent, jobs, transportation and innovation ecosystem needed to thrive and the opportunity to harness and maximize that potential. Business leaders in the region saw this opportunity and moved to be a catalyst for change.
The Challenge
Our region’s future, and the success of our businesses, hinges on our ability to grow inclusively. Inclusive economies create better futures for everyone, helping to build vibrancy and resiliency, attracting talent and stimulating investment. No challenge is more urgent than this one. Our businesses and our communities must grow together.

The Goal
We want to make the region stretching from Baltimore to Richmond a national model for economic growth where all residents have a stake in our prosperity. We aim to ignite sustainable economic ecosystems that champion innovation. By uniting sectors—business, government, higher education and non-profit organizations—we are not just addressing the challenges of today but laying the groundwork for a brighter tomorrow.

The Focus
We’re concentrating on three key areas: workforce development, transportation and infrastructure and economic growth and innovation. We believe that to create lasting impact, we must invest in our people and build better connections. By tapping into the unique strengths of our region, we’re addressing immediate challenges while building the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous future. Together, we’re making sure that as the region grows and everyone with it.

Our Story
The Greater Washington Partnership was founded in 2016 by a group of leading CEOs, C-suite executives and entrepreneurs with a bold vision: to address the critical issues facing the region and leverage momentum from the 2024 Olympic Games bid.
The bid process reinforced a need for cross-sector collaboration to solve the region’s most complex and institutional challenges through a more coordinated, multi-city approach.
Today, the Partnership now includes over 50 leaders from across diverse industries, higher education and nonprofit sectors. We are a catalyst for convening, thought leadership and collective action.
We have built the table that brings together businesses, government and community leaders to identify and address the challenges facing our region. Together, we tackle those challenges head-on through strategic partnerships, targeted investments and innovative initiatives.
