The scholarship program is made possible through contributions from General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman and T. Rowe Price, among other leading employers committed to expanding equitable access to tech careers.
“The Emerging Tech Talent Scholarship reflects what’s possible when leading employers unite around shared purpose,” said Kathy Hollinger, CEO of the Greater Washington Partnership. “By removing barriers for emerging talent and creating direct connections to the region’s largest companies, we’re helping ensure the Baltimore-to-Richmond corridor remains a magnet for top talent and a model for inclusive growth.”

Testimonials from Emerging Tech Talent Scholarship students:
- “I earned my Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Virginia Tech, with minors in Data and Decisions, Medicine and Society, and Global Business Practices. During undergrad, I developed strong technical skills, including learning RStudio for data analysis and gaining experience with Canva, WordPress, and Mailchimp through leadership and outreach roles. Now, I’m completing an MPH program at Boston University and aspire to lead monitoring and evaluation efforts for maternal and child health programs to improve outcomes and advance health equity.” — Ruth Seyoum, Public Health, Virginia Tech
- “The ETT Scholarship has been a transformative opportunity in my journey. As a first-generation student navigating higher education without a traditional support system, this scholarship has not only eased financial burdens but also opened doors to invaluable learning experiences and mentorship. Currently, I’m interning at Lidl US, where I’m gaining hands-on experience in IT compliance, risk management, and policy development—skills that are essential in today’s tech-driven organizations. Looking ahead, I aspire to work in AI and software development, creating innovative solutions that drive meaningful change. This scholarship has empowered me to pursue that future with confidence and purpose.” — Sabhee Rehman, Computer Science, Towson University
- “The Emerging Tech Talent Scholarship has been a tremendous help during my undergraduate years. Thanks to events like the Career and Game Day at Capital One Arena, I had the opportunity to connect with other passionate college students and leaders in my field, who offered invaluable advice as I navigated the daunting process of post-graduation and job hunting.” — Amanda Concepcion, Data Science, American University
