We convened cross-sector leaders for our Future of Talent event at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center. Industry experts, higher education leaders, workforce development professionals and business executives came together to explore how the Baltimore to Richmond region can align its talent pipeline with fast-growing sectors like advanced manufacturing, AI, media, life sciences and venture-backed innovation.
This event is part of a broader, multi-year effort to strengthen our region’s economic competitiveness. Earlier this year, the Partnership called on employers, universities, economic development leaders and public sector partners to build a unified approach to long-term growth. That work is now well underway, with organizations across the region lending insight, strategy and action to shape a more flexible, future-ready workforce.
Speakers explored the need to build a more adaptive, tech-enabled talent pipeline through stronger alignment between higher education, industry and government. From creating new career pathways to deepening public-private partnerships and investing in cross-disciplinary skills, the conversation reflected the momentum already building across the region.
Thank you to Nora Gardner (McKinsey & Company), President Gregory Washington (George Mason University), Robby Demeria (Phlow), Zach Leonsis (Monumental Sports & Entertainment), Bo Machayo (Micron Technology) and Michael Sheets (Red Cell Partners) for helping to frame both the urgency and the opportunity ahead.
And thank you to President Ron Daniels, Corey Lewson and the entire Johns Hopkins University team for hosting this important conversation.
