Executive Summary

The Greater Washington Partnership has leveraged contributions from the region’s employers and industry leaders to facilitate over 630 Emerging Tech Talent Scholarships for undergraduate students from fourteen colleges & universities across the region from Baltimore to Richmond. This report provides a profile of scholarship recipients from the 2023-2024 academic year, cumulative scholarship data through the 2023-2024 academic year, recipient testimonials, and a look at the career exploration programming offered by our collaborators.

About the Scholarship 

The Emerging Tech Talent (ETT) Scholarship supports learners from populations underrepresented in the tech workforce as they pursue technology-related coursework at postsecondary institutions, including in cybersecurity, data analytics, and software development.  

Key Facts  

According to data provided by our partner colleges and universities, 59% of ETT Scholarship recipients are women, 42% are first-generation undergraduate students, and 34% are over the age of 25.

Scholarship Events  

In addition to financial awards, the scholarship program also organizes career exposure programming to connect recipients to our network of Board and Leadership Council organizations. Through tailored panels, networking sessions, and private tours, our collaborators are helping recipients learn more about the career pathways in technology available within the region.
