The MTA Maryland (MTA) operates one of the largest transit agencies in the country, providing vital services that connect millions of residents in the region with access to opportunity via rail and road.

Only steps from the Maryland State House and joined by Gov. Wes Moore, Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld, MTA Administrator Holly Arnold and EY thought partners, we unveiled new research to state policymakers detailing the robust economic impact of the MTA’s capital and operating expenditures.

MTA’s combined direct, indirect and induced impact on Maryland’s economy is significant—its average FY20-24 annual capital expenditures and FY24 operating expenditures supported:
🔹$2.7 billion in total economic output
🔹$1.7 billion in total GDP
🔹9,660 total jobs
🔹$930 million in total labor income

By continuing to invest in our public transportation networks and rallying around a vision for world-class, super-regional transit from Baltimore to Richmond, we are supporting the region’s growth and making this the best region to live, work and build a business.
