Building the workforce of the future requires foresight, innovation and strong alignment between education and industry. Supported by JPMorganChase, TalentReady is driving high-quality work-based learning and career pathway expansion in five of the region’s most populated jurisdictions (Baltimore City, District of Columbia, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and Northern Virginia) to ensure students gain the skills, credentials and experiences needed for high-value careers in a rapidly evolving regional economy.

We’ve partnered with Education Strategy Group (ESG) to convene cross-sector leaders in Baltimore to identify strategies to meet Maryland’s changing talent demands through TalentReady. With insights from Maryland Secretary of Labor Portia Wu, Maryland Secretary of Higher Education Sanjay K. Rai and leading educators and employers from across the region, the discussion focused on reducing barriers to scaling work-based learning, aligning workforce strategies across jurisdictions and ensuring more students enter career pathways earlier.

Workforce challenges can’t be solved in silos. With over 25,000 students engaged in career pathway programs since 2019 and nearly 800 student work-based learning participants, TalentReady is proving that collaboration between educators, employers and policymakers is essential to building a more competitive and diverse economy. As this program continues, the Partnership will continue to deepen collaboration and drive investment in workforce strategies that create lasting economic impact.

Thank you to our host, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, for providing space for this event and for their commitment to workforce development for the region’s residents.
